Challenges We Faced
Our first attempt used Flutter’s AR libraries. We quickly realized that they lacked advanced features and performance for complex AR interactions.
We then moved to ARCore (Android) and ARKit (iOS). While powerful, managing two separate native codebases increased complexity and slowed progress.
Finally, we integrated Unity for AR development and connected it with Flutter for the app’s main framework. This gave us robust AR performance with the flexibility of Flutter’s UI.
Rendering AR experiences required balancing smooth performance with device limitations. Optimizing memory usage and frame rates was a key technical challenge.
Ensuring that AR behaved the same way across different devices and operating systems demanded constant testing and fine-tuning.

The project evolved from a simple authentication requirement into a connected physical-digital experience. The development journey focused on making NFC authentication intuitive while establishing the digital identity, blockchain, and AR capabilities required to extend the value of physical collectibles.
Phase 1: Understanding the Authentication Model
We defined the core requirements around collectible authentication, NFC interaction, unique identifiers, blockchain-based digital identity, and the overall collector experience.

The user journey focused on a simple NFC interaction, allowing collectors to begin authentication without navigating a complicated verification process.
Phase 3: Building the Flutter Application
The mobile application was developed using Flutter to provide a consistent cross-platform experience while integrating the core authentication functionality.
Phase 4: NFC & Blockchain Integration
NFC functionality was connected with unique collectible identifiers, creating the link between the physical item and its corresponding digital identity on the blockchain.
Phase 5: AR Experience Integration
The platform was extended with augmented reality capabilities, including surface detection and 3D content, allowing authenticated physical assets to become part of interactive digital experiences.
Phase 6: Testing & Refinement
The major authentication, NFC, digital identity, and AR user journeys were tested and refined to create a smoother and more reliable experience.
Measurable Outcomes After Launch
Users can begin the collectible authentication process by tapping an NFC-enabled mobile device against the physical item.
Each NFC tag contains a unique identifier linked to the corresponding item's digital identity on the blockchain.
The platform supports AR-based experiences with surface detection and 3D models connected to physical assets.
The public App Store listing documents AR video recording of up to 90 seconds along with capture and sharing functionality.

UX/UI Design
The experience was planned around a simple NFC interaction so collectors could begin authentication with minimal steps while keeping important digital information accessible.
Flutter Development
